This year at Extreme Thing was crazy! Even though we were battling 50mph winds in the middle of the desert, we still seemed to catch some of our favorite bands and see a lot of familiar faces back at our booth!

About the House of Blues
The House of Blues grew out of founder Isaac Tigrett’s love for the unique American art form known as the “the Blues”. Weaned on this music during his early childhood in Tennessee, one of Isaac’s goals was to introduce the world to the music of the rural south, including the Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Gospel, Jazz and Roots-based Rock & Roll. The very first House of Blues opened its doors in a converted historical house in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1992 and is home to live music, original folk art, and delta-inspired cuisine. The House of Blues is dedicated to educating and celebrating the history of Southern Culture and African American artistic contributions to music and art. Our mission is to create:

What is Vegas Streats?

Vegas StrEATS is a street food and culture festival hosted every second Saturday in downtown Las Vegas, showcasing the valley’s hottest local food trucks, artists, musicians, & fashion. Presented by Slidin Thru’ in partnership with El Cortez & Insert Coin(s). Each month various food trucks serve up unique gourmet bites along Jackie Gaughan Plaza outside the El Cortez Hotel & Casino. Local Bands, MC’s, & DJ’s provide the soundtrack for the night ranging from indie rock, hip-hop, dubstep, & house music. Graffiti artists & streetwear brands line up vendor row slanging fresh apparel & art. Come experience a bit of homegrown Vegas culture.

ABOUT THE BAND:

Escape the Fate is an American post-hardcore band from Las Vegas, Nevada formed in 2005 and originally from Pahrump, Nevada. They have released three EPs and three full-length studio albums. Dying Is Your Latest Fashion was the band’s debut album and only album to feature vocalist Ronnie Radke. This War Is Ours, released on October 21, 2008, was the band’s first album with Craig Mabbitt as the new lead vocalist. Their self-titled third studio album was released on November 2, 2010, first on the major label, DGC/Interscope, and their most successful album to date.

About Ghostbar

Located on the 55th floor of the Palms Casino Resort, Ghostbar provides all the mystery that its name suggests as it has both a sleek nightclub and a sophisticated ultra-lounge. About Haze

Conceptualized and designed to mirror the success of existing Light Group venues, Haze Nightclub is a dramatic 25,500-square-foot cutting-edge space in where guests will be challenged to question their sense of perception and reality. Haze nightclub features over sized hanging props over the entryway, drawing guests to a grand central staircase which transports them to the mezzanine level where one can enjoy a birds-eye view of the action down below.

The main dance floor, filled with beats from the world’s best DJs, is home to 100 square feet of interactive projection screens on a performance structure where impromptu surprise acts by world-renowned artists will take place. Suede walls and plush surfaces speckle the weaving interior of this nightlife destination boasting a unique 70-foot wall of lights that incorporates the latest in technology. Haze’s revolutionizing sound system, designed by Avalon Sound, is the first audio system in the world to utilize the latest in sound technology that will create a music environment unlike anything Las Vegas has seen. Full color laser shows add to the sensory experience, creating a nightlife mecca that will raise the standards of nightclubs around the world.

Illuminaudio is the debut Chiodos recording for new lead vocalist Brandon Bolmer (formerly of Yesterday’s Rising) and drummer Tanner Wayne (formerly of Underminded and Scary Kids Scaring Kids). Alongside Bolmer and Wayne are established Chiodos members Bradley Bell (keys), Jason Hale (guitar), Pat McManaman (guitar), and Matt Goddard (bass).

Seamlessly intertwined with the band’s signature haunting melodies and grandiose vocals, is a bolder, more striking contrast between delicate piano-work and intense, bellowing screams. With the core composers of the music still at the heart of Chiodos, fans can be reassured that they will hear the sound that they have grown familiar with over the years. Bell explains, “Even if the lineup had stayed the same, I feel that the direction of sound would’ve turned out similar. We don’t feel like our vision was lost or compromised in any way throughout the writing process.”

The album was recorded at The Machine Shop in Weehawken, New Jersey with producer Machine [Lamb Of God, Every Time I Die, Cobra Starship]. “Recording with Machine was incredible,” says Bell. “We didn’t really know what to expect, but right away we could tell that he believed in us as musicians.”

With positive vibes flowing between the band and producer, the studio was transformed into a creative sanctuary. Away from the pressures of daily life and touring, the band was able to hone in on their skills and emotions to create a sound that truly represents who Chiodos is today. “He was truly inspiring in a lot of ways…from pushing us in our writing to digging deep inside of us to helping us realize what our true sound is,” Bell describes of the experience. “And to really bring it out of us, he would get up and start break dancing and shouting at us to make us that much more excited. We’ve never had the opportunity to work with a producer like that and we feel it was key in this transitional process.”

A theme of transitions and growth is evident throughout the album, with a focus on moving forward and starting over. Illuminaudio “means a new chapter, it means change, and a fresh start. Some of the songs are very personal, and I’m happy to have that,” expounds Bolmer. “There is a meaning and point to each song, and when put together, it creates something that I will remember for the rest of my life.”

Reflecting on the personal nature of the album’s content, Bell adds, “I hope that people can use Illuminaudio as an escape from their problems and see a light at the end of the tunnel no matter what their situation…There is so much poison and negativity in this world that in order to not let it effect us and the chemistry of our brotherhood, we just have to accept the fact that everybody has their own problems and opinions and hope the best for everyone in any situation.” He concludes, “Music isn’t meant to be a competition or an open forum for people to destroy; those who treat it is as such simply don’t deserve to be graced with it.”

Regardless of member changes, the rising pressure of the band’s past success, or life’s constant obstacles redirecting their path, Chiodos has once again created an album that pushes boundaries and allows the music to speak for itself. Illuminaudio is an honest, raw representation of hope, strength and optimism. “We put an incredible amount of thought, time, sacrifice, emotion, and stress into the process of making this beautiful monster,” states Bell. “I believe all of that will shine through the music as soon as people press play.
